DBT Crisis Survival Skills: Helping Clients Get Through Bad Situations Without Making Things Worse

CE Hours 2

About this course

In the midst of strong emotion during crisis, clients can “undo” progress forward by giving into crisis urges and behaving in ways that make already difficult situations worse. This presentation will provide therapists with skills for clients to use in moments of distress, as well as ways to address mood-dependent behaviors that get in the way of client’s goals. This course is designed to give therapists a toolkit for teaching clients to tolerate distress. Attention will be paid to assisting clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to using distress tolerance skills and instead giving in to mood dependent behavior. A downloadable 53 page client workbook is included in the course.
